Summer at Scotney Castle
Have summer on us!
We often spend all winter looking forward to long summer days, but when they finally arrive the long summer holidays can sometimes seem a bit of struggle. Not any more! Not only is Scotney Castle near Tunbridge Wells one of the dreamiest and most romantic locations in the area, there is a summer full of memories to be made with great ideas for days out for all ages.

Great Big Green Week – 8 to 16 June
Birds, bees and butterflies – and the odd grass snake and newt. Join Scotney’s garden and ranger teams for a series of walks, talks and tours this Great Big Green Week and celebrate the natural world. Enjoy guided garden and estate tours, get hints and tips on how to look after your own green space, and hear from our experts on how we’re gardening for nature.
Roll up, roll up for a Summer of Play – 27 July to 7 September
When schools breaks up, make a break for Scotney’s great ‘Big Top’-themed games and activities. Little ones and big ones alike can test their stilt-walking skills, try their hand at juggling, plate-spinning and diablo, or conquer the ring of fire and balance their way safely across the tight rope. Easy-peasy family days out (almost) guaranteed.

Outdoor Theatre and Live Music – various dates in August
Nothing says summer like an outdoor show. A picnic basket full of your favourite treats, starlit nights, laughter with family and friends, and an evening of fantastic music or theatre to entertain, from ‘Jemima Puddleduck’ to ‘Henry V’ and Abba Chique to the Swinging Little Big Band.
Heritage and Harvest 14 – 15 September
Round off the summer with us as we celebrate traditional skills, champion local producers and make autumn awesome. Browse the wonderful array of stalls in our Makers’ Market, meet the heavy horses, watch demonstrations of heritage skills and take part in traditional games and children’s craft activities.
