JUBILEE – WHAT’S ON
Here are just a few of the community events taking places around the counties, to celebrate the Jubilee from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.
Wateringbury Scouts: Platinum Jubilee Scout Family Camp
Wateringbury Scouts are holding a family camp at Thristwood Scout campsite over the four day weekend. We will have games and celebrations involving the whole family, making bunting/decorations, cakes, and bread for a large afternoon tea in honor of the Queen. We will run games and activities to help celebrate this monumental milestone.
St Mary’s, Battle: A Celebration in Flowers for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Her Majesty the Queen is the Patron of St Mary’s Battle. We will be celebrating her 70 years in flowers and the church will be open to view these on: Thursday 2nd June: 12 noon – 6pm; Friday 3rd June: 9am – 6pm (Tea, coffee and cake available 10am – 4pm) Saturday 4th June: 9am – 6pm (cream tea available 2pm‑4:30pm) Sunday 5th June: 9.30am service with the Bishop of Lewes & open until 6pm.
Horton Kirby & South Darenth: The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Event
We are a Parish Council and will be hosting a fête, picnic in the park, live music in the evening leading up to the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm. There will be a baking competition, inflatables, races and lots of other stalls.
Hailsham Official Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Beacon Lighting
Residents are warmly invited to mark the official start of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Hailsham Town Centre on the evening of June 2nd. An official beacon will be lit, and the evening will have live music and entertainment.
Jubilation! @ The Petworth Festival
Jubilation! A happy and glorious celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May 2022 Venue: Seaford College, Lavington Park, Petworth GU28 0NB Time: Saturday evening ‘s ‘Royal Variety Performance’ from 6.30pm; Sunday morning’s ‘Audience with royal Biographer, Robert Lacey’ from 11.00am; Sunday lunch ‘The Big Picnic’ from 1pm; Sunday afternoon ‘Tea Dance’ from 2.30pm.
Worthing Scouts Present: The Platinum Jubilee
Worthing Scouts have organised a community fun day, taking place on Broadwater Green on the 2nd June. We’ll be putting on a host of fun activities that everyone can join in with, a display of local Scouting, stalls, raffles, tombolas, amazing food and drinks, competitions and finishing off with lighting of a beacon.
Eastbourne: The Great British Vintage Tea Dance
The Great British Vintage Tea Dance for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a fabulous Ballroom, Latin and Jive dance, celebrating the Queen’s first three eras in three hours! Kicking off with her Coronation in the 50s, then 60s & 70s. Take a trip down memory lane and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of vintage nostalgia.
Sevenoaks Queens Jubilee Community Big Sing
The Big Community Sing for the Queens Platinum Jubilee is taking place at the District’s iconic Stag Theatre on Tuesday 7 June from 7pm. The Big Community Sing is a fantastic event giving local singers the chance to perform before a packed-out theatre while raising money for local mental health support groups.
Underriver Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
There will be a series of events in the village over the 4 days, including Beacon Lighting, Concert, Community Cricket Match & Hog Roast, Big Lunch, Flower Festival & Commemorative Church Service.
Lanterns on The Moor
Hawkhurst Parish Council are holding a free event on Thursday 2nd June for everyone to come along, enjoy and evening of Live music, bring your picnic or there will be a BBQ to buy from. There will be a parade of lanterns around the moor before they come to rest for the beacon to be lit followed by a firework display.
