Easter Eggstravaganza
Trees are bursting with blossom, lambs have sprung and chocolate is filling your head it can only mean one thing… spring is here and Easter with a long weekend are just around the corner!
It’s the perfect season to get outside and enjoy some fresh air with the family. With an abundance of eggcellent activities, including plenty of Easter egg trails, we have a roundup of all the great things going on during the springtime festival weekend.
Easter egg trails
Follow in the Easter bunny’s footsteps, put on your walking boots and head out to one of the many places in Kent and Sussex, to discover where he has hidden the chocolate eggs. Immerse yourself in nature, listening to birdsong and discovering things along the way. It’s a great way for little ones to burn off some energy and have fun, with the reward of chocolate at the end.
Spring blooms
As we wave goodbye to winter and spring bursts into view blossom is one of the spectacular highlights, with an abundance of daffodils, iris and tulips there’s no happier place to be for calm and tranquillity, than a garden. Marvel at the display at Ightham Mote, near Sevenoaks, or the spectacle of 4,000 wallflowers at Bateman’s in Burwash. Visit Brogdale, Faversham, the home of the National Fruit Collection this Easter and take a trail through the orchards among the flowering fruit trees. Want to travel around the globe without going too far? Then hop over to Lullingstone Castle and the World Garden where budding plant hunters must put their thinking caps on to solve the quiz and claim an eggtastic surprise.
Get creative
With a spring in your step head over to Hever Castle this April, see if you can crack the Yew Maze and let your little ones get creative with the free craft workshops. And for those who like to get their hands dirty Squires Garden Centres are hosting ‘Create & Grow’ events where young green fingers can enjoy planting flowers in a vibrant pot, the perfect Easter gift!
Trains, boats and races
If you’re looking for a show to entertain the whole family, with plenty of comedy, slapstick and mayhem, then hop on the Spa Valley Railway this Easter, for a performance by the Radtastic Theatre, guaranteed to get you laughing. Need some eggsercise to counter the chocolate indulgence? Then why not take part in an Easter egg hunt with a difference? Hire a canoe, kayak or paddleboard at Canoe Wild and paddle along the beautiful River Stour spotting the Easter bunny’s offerings as you go. And if you love the thrill of the races, then a family day out at Aldington Races point-to-point, this Easter Monday, could be just your thing.
Happy Easter from all of us at Aspect!
