Wallpaper and Fabric by Petronella Hall
Bold, quirky wallpaper and fabric designs based around the Kent countryside from Illustrator Petronella Hall.
Petronella Hall was founded in the Kent countryside in 2015. With a degree in Illustration (BA Hons), careers in fashion design and fashion retail, and a passion for beasties and all things textile, she began to design illustrate on fabrics based on her surroundings.
In 2015 the international wallcovering brand Muraspec/ Fardis commissioned a 6m-wall mural to launch their digital wallpapers for Decorex 2015, plus two other wallpaper designs. This was the catalyst to expand her textile range on to wallpapers, these becoming available in April 2016, officially launching at The London design festival 2016.
Her bespoke designs have been seen at the Ideal Home show and more recently in Chelsea Harbour.
In October 2016 she was delighted to win the the My Country Business award for her Pelican wallpaper.
Petronella means huge rock, so perhaps that’s why she has a connection to all things natural. Living in the garden of England, she draws and paints outside as often as possible, finding inspiration all around. From the bleached colours of driftwood on Dungeness beach, to the deep juicy berry tones abundant in the surrounding countryside in autumn, it all supplies her with an endless colour palette. Mix it up with a sense of fun and you have a Petronella design.
“With each design I try to evoke a sense of place, a memory of a happy time, a special place, of home and a hopeful future.” said Petra
Her own collections reflect her love of birds and plants and lots of colour, digital printing allows her the flexibility to create unencumbered by the limitations of screen-printing.
The carefully hand drawn or hand painted illustrations are then transferred to the computer to be turned into beautiful fabrics and wallpapers. This maintains the integrity of the original illustrations.
Petronella Hall is a passionate supporter of British industry, all of the fabrics, wallpapers, cushions and sundries are supplied by British companies as local to Kent as possible. The wallpaper is printed on sustainable paper, the fabrics are natural linens and cottons printed with inks that are not harmful to the environment.
The collections
English country – Small curious birds, blossom and dragonflies in hues that mimic the seasons: winter greys, summer blues, soft greens or warm autumn yellows. Printed on wallpaper, fabric and cushions, bringing the outside in to create a home to be proud of.
Antiguan – A contrast to all that is English, this collection represents the cheerful colours and quirky characters of the island’s natural inhabitants. Pelicans, Egrets, tropical flowers and black pineapples surrounded by a clear blue ocean. These are large bold colourful designs to add some drama and individuality to your home.
