Katie’s Garden
Frogheath Landscapes win coveted award at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016
East Sussex based Frogheath Landscapes were very proud to be asked to build Katie’s Garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show this year. The garden, designed by Carolyn Dunster and Noemi Mercurelli, was awarded the coveted People’s Choice Award in the Summer/City Gardens category in an announcement made in July this year.
Winning the People’s Choice Award is a real coup. As the name suggests, these awards are voted for by the public; both those who visit the show in person, and those who enjoy seeing the Show Garden photos on the RHS website.
Katie’s Garden was designed to be a life-affirming, productive cut flower garden, highlighting the work of Katie’s Lymphoedema Fund (KLF), a charity set up in memory of Katie Wohlrab and in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Lymphoedema is a painful side effect of breast cancer surgery and blockages in the lymph system. Donations go to train NHS practitioners in the management and treatment of the condition.
The garden demonstrated how to grow flowers in a small space for picking and arranging, championing seasonal, locally grown blooms. Dried seedheads on display showed the cyclical nature of life. A central bubbling water feature represented the lymph drainage system and was intended to draw the visitor’s attention to the vital work of KLF.
Frogheath Landscapes work predominantly within a 35 mile radius of their Burwash Weald base and use environmentally sensitive suppliers whenever possible. They employ a highly qualified team, under the direction of Steve Moody.
