Our largest organ is our skin, and so it is important to care for it all year round, especially during the changing seasons. With many different products on the market, each claiming to have restorative benefits, more and more people are turning to organic skin care products, as they do not contain harmful chemicals or parabens. Based in Hastings, Rock Rose Beauty is an organic artisan brand, founded by three good friends whose passion is to deliver sustainable products with real visible results.
The Company came into being following the diagnosis of an aggressive cancer to one of the founders, Lindsay Wright, whose treatment had adverse effects on her skin. Whilst in Portugal, taking a break from chemotherapy she stumbled across an ancient healing herb Cistus Ladanifer – commonly known as Rock Rose. On her return home she consulted with her close friend and intuitive aromatherapist, Vanessa Mcneilly, on a blend of essential oils combined with a few drops of her recent discovery, Cistus. The results were amazing, they could hardly believe the dramatic change to Lindsay’s skin. Following the initial trial, the pair teamed up with beauty specialist Raquel Le Bron, and set about creating a range of organic oils and balms suitable for all skin types. All the balms and oils were to be waterless thus making the blends far more powerful and, of course, at the heart of all the products is the Cistus essential oil.
In 2020 the Company was awarded the Lux Life organic product of the year and just recently Sussex Enterprise awarded them best organic skin care brand of 2022. They are also featured in the renowned Beauty Bible and Muddy Stilettos.
During the past couple of years, Rock Rose have added more products to their range including their most recent launch of a vegan, natural deodorant. Given that cancer was the catalyst for the brand, the company have in the pipeline, gift care packages of carefully curated products, designed to be used during treatment. You can also experience the benefits of a Rock Rose facial, in the beauty treatment rooms of The Old Rectory, boutique hotel in Hastings. The Rye Retreat also offers a Rock Rose massage using the brand’s specially created massage candle and, coming soon to the Rock Rose website will be the specially commissioned, temporary mastectomy tattoos which will beautifully cover surgical scars. Organic, natural and full of good things; the foundation of Rock Rose products.
