If you’re looking for a design driven eyewear boutique, Edney & Edney located in Monsoon Road, Tunbridge Wells is the place to go for a curated selection of independent, artisan eyewear brands with a focus on individualised fittings and consultations to the spectacle wearers of Tunbridge Wells and its surrounding areas.
When the owners opened the store in 2016, the idea was to create a ‘sweet shop’ for glasses, where clients have real choice and expert help in styling the perfect frames. No longer would people have to traipse from opticians to opticians in the hope of finding a pair of spectacles they like, here they are confident they will find multiple ‘perfect’ pairs. Edney & Edney have combined their passion for original eyewear with a relaxed informal shop setting and state of the art consulting room.
As an independent opticians, they are able to use pretty much any lens supplier, however in keeping with the perfect pair philosophy they mainly using Nikon for the brand’s superior performance. With an eye for spotting emerging talent, optician Jamie Edney hand selects each and every frame from the most exceptional designers around the world. Setting his pulse racing for 2022 is Jacques Marie Mage – a collection designed in Hollywood and hand crafted in Japan. Jacques Marie Mage is a design-centred luxury goods brand, they specialise in the micro-production of premier quality, limited-edition eyewear for a clientele of discerning tastes.
Jamie explains “Jacques Marie Mage frames are handmade using either the finest quality Japanese titanium or stunning 10mm Takhiron Block Acetate, frames are then finished with either .925 sterling silver or 18k gold decals.”
Another collection proving to be a huge hit amongst the style conscious is theo — designed to always incorporate a touch of humour, individuality and a certain ‘edge’. theo frames are worn with confidence and style and cater for both ladies and gents- young and old. Some of the other collections found in the store include Kirk & Kirk, MYKITA, Cutler and Gross, l.a. Eyeworks as well as high end luxury brands DITA and Chrome Hearts.

Spectacles aside, optometrist Ayshah Edney delivers a comprehensive fifty-minute eye examination. Ayshah’s clinical expertise and twenty years of experience paired with the cutting edge equipment at her disposal including OCT ensure exceptionally thorough eyecare. They also offer myopia management for our younger clients – a modern concept which aims to reduce the rate at which children’s eyes become more short sighted.
