An original and fine country pub
The Swan Inn, Woods Corner, Dallington
Dating back to the 1390s The Swan is one of the oldest coaching Inns in East Sussex, situated on the side of the busy B2096 between Heathfield and Battle the Swan is an original and fine country pub. Not a gastro pub, not a dining pub or a pub restaurant, a real pub! With log fires, well kept ales and traditional home cooked pub food, the Swan is popular as a destination with both locals and those from further afield.
The bar is cosy and warm in winter with candles and the wood burner always ablaze. You can eat in the bar or you prefer a quieter atmosphere the 30 seater dining room boasts views over the garden and the Eastbourne coast, across to Langley Marsh. The views can be as breathtaking as the pub itself.
Run for the past 10 years by the Dale/Kent family, the owners have recently invested heavily in the external appearance of the building with new décor, signage and plants, proudly only using trades local to the pub itself. But it’s the new car park that has turned the most heads! The old rutted car park has been replaced with beautiful new tarmac and a traditional chestnut fence
The pub is open all day, every day from 11.30−23.00 with food served Monday-Friday 12−2.30 and 6.30 – 9.15pm with food served all day Saturdays 12 – 9.15pm and Sundays 12 – 7pm – Sundays have always been extremely busy at the Swan and the varied selection of Sunday Roasts using locally sourced meats are just the ticket on a cold winters day.
Monday evenings are also very popular with a two courses for £10 meal deal.
The menus change regularly and certainly keep an eye of the chalkboards for the ‘specials’ of short crust pastry pies and fresh fish. Their Christmas menu 2017 is available from late November to 24th December at £23.75 per person.
The Swan is a regular haunt of the Aspect County publisher and comes highly recommended. You can follow the Swan on facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with what’s going on.
