Cobham Hall
Nestled in 150 acres of stunning Kent countryside but only 30 minutes from the buzz of central London; steeped in 500 years of history, yet with a curriculum firmly focused on the future: Cobham Hall is a school of many contrasts. Where else will you find sixth formers trying their hand at car maintenance while a herd of deer grazes in the background? Or a giant summer waterslide in grounds once walked by Charles Dickens?
The grandeur of Cobham Hall’s 16th century buildings is home to an independent school like no other. A school whose warm and caring body of day and boarding students is rooted in their local community, yet globally engaged. A school that inspires excellence, nurtures courage and self-belief, and equips young people for a future of unprecedented change.
Education for life
A Cobham Hall education is not just about results (though the school’s are excellent) – it is an education for life. Preparing today’s students for an unknown tomorrow, and for jobs that have yet to be imagined, is a responsibility Cobham Hall takes immensely seriously. The development of essential life skills is core to the curriculum in every year group, cemented in Cobham’s bespoke Perspectives course. From creativity to curiosity, communication skills to adaptability, Perspectives lessons support each student in developing the attributes and skills they will need to thrive, whatever the future brings.
A life less ordinary
Cobham Hall believes untold brilliance lies within every student and inspires each to have the courage to challenge themselves and find their own unique, fulfilling path in life. Happy young people learn, and the school ensures its core values of Trust, Respect, Honesty, Kindness and Tolerance infuse every part of their experience. In the diverse, supportive environment this creates, students feel safe to develop their curiosity and creativity; to push boundaries and try the new.
With a superb enrichment programme and over 40 co-curricular activities available, from Boxing Fitness to Sushi Making, STEM Club to Creative Writing, opportunities to do so are legion. What is more, the school stands ready to make industry connections that really make a difference. Thanks to its partnership with Steinway, for example, school musicians now play, and perform with, the world’s best instruments and receive masterclasses from world-renowned artists. Others, in recent months, have learnt basketball from an ex-NBA professional and had the unique opportunity to quiz experts from the worlds of television production and music — Cobham Hall’s fine grounds and buildings are regularly used as a filming location, with recent visitors including The Crown and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
