For the third year in a row the Year 11 Maths results at Battle Abbey School have exceeded all expectations and continued to improve. Every single student in the school achieved a very respectable result, with 72% of students being awarded a grade 7 – 9 and a phenomenal 81% of students achieved a grade 6 – 9.
Farouk Tumi, Head of Maths is delighted with the results “When looking at the top marks, 1 in 5 students secured a grade 9 – which for a non-selective school is simply outstanding. I am incredibly proud of all of the students for the sheer dedication and hard work they put in to achieve these results, especially those who have found that maths does not come naturally to them. It is also fantastic to see another year of improvements in the Maths results, highlighting the continuing improvements that the department is making”.
Headmaster David Clark says: “To be able to achieve a new record set of results for three years in succession is nothing short of sensational, especially when you consider just how strong previous results have been. The maths department put in a huge amount of additional teaching, after school and during the holidays, and great credit should go to Farouk and his team for being able to engage the pupils and help them maximise their potential. The variety of teaching styles the Maths department feature and the related results are securing the department, and indeed the school, plaudits from across the region. Seeing the students’ faces as they found out their results was a wonderful experience”
