With a focus on academic excellence and student empowerment, Mr Dickie has taught History and Politics for more than 20 years, and served as a Head of Sixth Form, Head of Department and Senior Housemaster at Bedes School before joining Claremont in 2013. He has been Headmaster at the Senior School for the past six years, leading the school through two outstanding’ inspections, creation of an enviable academic record and the development of a nationally recognised performing arts programme.

Claremont is a wonderful and unique environment,” said Mr Dickie. A local school with a genuinely international perspective, it is a modern and progressive school that reflects the rapidly changing world we are living in. There is an outstanding academic provision here, an award-winning performing arts offering and a highly successful Football Academy that continues to find success in the region.”

Next year, Claremont will celebrate its 100-year anniversary and plans are being drawn up to celebrate this monumental milestone throughout 2025.

Established in 1925, the Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School is set on a 125 acre estate in St Leonards. In 2011, the Senior School was founded in the historic village of Bodiam. Starting with 40 students, it is now a well-established centre of learning with a vibrant Sixth Form and two newly refurbished boarding houses. More than 600 students are educated across the different sections of the school.

In February 2018, Claremont School became a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), the flagship in a portfolio of 85 schools across five continents.

I really believe being part of ISP puts Claremont in a unique position in the region. We have already seen significant investment into our facilities, but beyond that ISP has also brought unique international learning opportunities for our students, including extensive cultural exchanges and access to global competitions and educational innovation. We’ve recently had students travel to Malaysia and Mexico, and welcomed cohorts from schools in Peru and the United States.”

With a series of open days and events happening in the remainder of 2024 and into 2025, starting with a Reception Open Evening on 21st November, Mr Dickie is encouraging parents to come along to tour the School, meet him in person and see the full benefits of a Claremont education.

At Claremont, we facilitate creativity, academic excellence and independence within a supportive and nurturing environment. We welcome pupils from all walks of life and place pupils at the very centre of their own learning; so whatever your belief, creed, ability, Claremont students can become their best, whatever that may look like.”
