The new exhibition at SEEArt Gallery
SEEART GALLERY proudly presents PAST/PRESENT/ FUTURE, an exhibition of sculpture and paintings spanning four decades by internationally acclaimed artist GUY PORTELLI.
This stunning and iconic collection will be exhibited for sale and will include work from Portelli’s renowned ‘Pop Icons’ and ‘Temptation, Reward’ series, never before seen paintings and artist studies inspired by travel which portray Portelli’s emotional response to landscape, featuring Africa and Latin America.
Born in South Africa and now living in England, Portelli came to prominence in 2008 after appearing on ‘Dragon’s Den’ and he is now one of the most recognised and accomplished artists living and working in the UK today.
Currently Portelli is working on a monumental commission for the town of Battle, East Sussex. The sculpture, of a Norman warrior on a horse battling an Anglo Saxon soldier, will commemorate the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, which is held on October 14th 2016. Created in stainless steel, mosaic and aluminium the sculpture consists of three different techniques inherent in Guy’s oeuvre. The sculpture, the largest public commission ever for the South East of England, will remain as a permanent memorial for the town.
The maquette and photographs of work in progress will all be on show at the exhibition.
Guy Portelli’s work is held in both public and private collections, which include the Porsche family, Sainsbury’s, Ringo Starr, Sheik Hamdan, Peel Holdings and the Barclay Brothers.
