Summer chic for the Riviera Clique

Aspect Fashion Editor Pascale Banks takes a peek at some hot items, perfect for the season

As the sunny weather approaches and holidays are nearing, summer dressing should be in the forefront of everyone’s minds. If you are planning on packing your cases and jetting off to the French Riviera do not panic, I have the perfect resort wear staples that would fit in with even Princess Grace of Monaco’s luxury tastes. I am thinking of the of the 1950’s and the classic summer style of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birkin, their chic way of dressing would be perfect for the beach clubs and restaurants of the Cote D’Azur.

One of my favourite designers for summer 2017 is Johanna Ortiz, this Colombian based Atelier is known for her feminine shapes which perfectly accentuate the waist and tie features which are super flattering, all garments are made by local craftsmen with the finest materials in her native country. This deconstructed poplin top would be beautiful with a simple white trouser and a large brimmed hat, this look could take you straight from the flight to the bar.

A brand I have recently discovered is Kalmar, Karen Ruimy’s first collection launched in Milan this Spring and is definitely one to watch. This luxury resort wear collection is made up of beautifully printed Kaftans, camisoles, palazzo pants and also now sandals, swimwear and a bag line in collaboration with Rae Feather. Kalmar Leaf print silk Georgette kaftan – £805

Johanna Ortiz Santa Rosa one shoulder striped cotton blend poplin top retails at £760 (Harrods, Matches, Net a Porter, My Theresa.

Eugenia Kim’s Bunny woven straw sun hat with light reflecting sequin embellished writing, perfect detailing and the wide brim is a must for sunny days – £355.

The bag of the season is definitely the basket, I am loving this one with it’s box design and gold detailing. Prada Midollino Tote lightweight wicker and surprisingly spacious – £1,100

If you are all about colour and love to add a little va va voom to your holiday evening wear how about stepping out in a statement dress like this Dolce and Gabbana work of art. It’s cotton and silk mix with glittering sequins and embroidered lace panels, it would perfectly encapsulate those Riviera hues – £5,250

Nothing screams summer like the classic white dress, there are so many to chose from this year. One of my favourites is this Valentino bohemian maxi made from beautiful broderie anglaise cotton mix – £4,960 it would create the perfect silhouette with a belt and a little drama with a red statement earring.
