Frewen College at Northiam is celebrating the successful launch of its unique Sixth Form partnership, with its first cohort nearing the end of their first year and the majority of this year’s GCSE pupils applying to stay on for next year.

The only dyslexia specialist school in the area, and believed to be the longest established in the country, Frewen can now offer all-through education starting at age 7 in its Prep School, moving on to the Senior School, and now through to age 19 in the Sixth Form.

Frewen has entered into partnership with Bexhill College and Plumpton College to offer an exceptionally wide range of main courses for Sixth Form students, and then supplements these on site with additional courses and one-to-one support. These can include personal development courses, creative and performing arts, sports, GCSE re-takes, therapy, and leadership development through the Duke of Edinburgh and Young Enterprise Schemes.

Head of Sixth Form Amanda Glubb says: It has been great to see how the combination of access to mainstream College courses, supplemented by the individually tailored 1:1 support we can provide back at Frewen has worked to develop students’ independence and self-confidence. It really does help to maintain the momentum built up as they move through the Prep and Senior Schools, and prepares young people for independent life either in Higher Education or employment.”

Frewen College does accept external applications for its Sixth Form, and welcomes both Local Authority funded and private fee paying pupils. Applications can still be accepted for this September, although parents of interested students should contact the school without delay in order to secure the course of their choice.
